Why 2027 Presidential Election Should Be Between Tinubu, Obi, Makinde, Sowore, Duke, Adebayo Without Atiku – Shehu Sani

A former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has asserted that the upcoming 2027 presidential contest ought to be contested exclusively between President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Peter Obi, and other contenders hailing from the southern region.

Expressing his views through a post on X, the former lawmaker insisted that northern figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ought to step aside and permit the South to fully utilize its mandated eight-year governance tenure.

While acknowledging that power rotation is technically absent from the country’s legal charter, Sani maintained, “it is equitable,” adding, “We should not bury our heads in the sand and deny the realities and complexities of our history.”

Elaborating further, he listed potential contenders by stating, “The 2027 political contest should be between Tinubu, Peter Obi, Sowore, Makinde, Adebayo, Duke and other Southern Candidates. The South should complete its eight years.”

Furthermore, Sani emphasized that once the southern tenure elapses, the “North should have an unchallengeable right in 2031,” while issuing a sharp warning that “those who say there shouldn’t be respect for the principle of Rotation of power in 2027, should know that it WILL NOT be respected in 2031.”
