Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has broken down the essential qualifications required for Nigerians and other West Africans aspiring to enlist in the United States Army, while issuing a strong caution against fraudulent recruitment schemes.
Momodu, who recently completed his own enlistment journey into the US armed forces, clarified that candidates must already reside within the United States and possess a valid Green Card to become eligible for the application process.
Addressing inquiries on his social media handles, the movie star noted, “If you are in Nigeria, or you live anywhere in West Africa, and you are part of those sending me DMs that help me join the US Army. Let me give you the gist.”
Outlining the prerequisites, the actor emphasized, “1. You have to be resident in U.S. 2. You have to have a Green Card then you can qualify to sit for the ASVAB exam.”
He further cautioned individuals residing outside American borders to remain vigilant against online fraudsters and fake portals falsely promising direct recruitment pathways.
“Please do not fall for any scam anywhere, there is no link anywhere to click on to join the US Army when you are outside the U.S,” he warned.
Back in June, Momodu made headlines by announcing his official entry into the United States military, describing the milestone as a lifelong ambition fulfilled and a dedicated homage to his late father, a former officer in the Nigeria Police Force.
