A viral online video has captured pupils of Okwue Primary School in Owa-Nta, Delta State, using buckets and plastic containers to clear floodwater from their inundated classroom following a recent downpour.
The clip shows the young learners, clad in their school uniforms, frantically trying to drain the space while their teacher speaks in the local dialect to make an urgent plea to the public and relevant government agencies.
A closer look at the footage highlights a deteriorating facility, revealing an open or severely damaged roof alongside missing window shutters and a visible lack of proper desks and chairs for learning.
The affected children, estimated to be between 9 and 11 years old, actively joined in the physical effort to evacuate the water so their lessons could continue.
Reports indicate that the primary school is located within the Anioma-populated area of the Delta North Senatorial District.
Imploring official intervention to salvage the situation, the teacher could be heard passionately stating,
“Please, I am begging for the future of these future presidents. They should come to our aid.”
