Arise News anchor Rufai Oseni has come heavily on Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi over his latest comments regarding the 2023 general elections.
The reaction follows Obi’s admission that there was no concrete evidence available to prove his claim that he won the 2023 presidential election.
Speaking on Arise Television, Rufai tackled the former Anambra State governor, stating that public figures should refrain from making unverified assertions that damage their public credibility.
Rebuking the politician directly on air, Rufai said:“Mr Peter Obi, it is best you do not say things if you do not have the evidence. I must repeat it, because when you say that I won the election, you don’t have the evidence to back it up, then people do not take what you say seriously.”
The broadcast journalist went further to question whether Obi or his political party conducted basic independent verification or backend polling unit tallies before declaring victory after the election.
He asked:“Didn’t you have backend analysis of result by result before you made the claim? Where are all your own data spreadsheets on the backend that assert your claim? Where is your own backend collation that asserts your claim?”
Rufai stressed that while Obi might genuinely believe he won the contest, making sweeping public statements without data spreadsheets, backend collation, or verifiable proof renders the claim meaningless.
