A tragic incident unfolded in Akure, the Ondo State capital, as a Vehicle Inspection Officer lost his life after being crushed by a truck during a routine vehicle document check.
The fatal accident took place opposite Mega Primary School along Hospital Road when the officer attempted to intercept the heavy-duty vehicle for a routine inspection.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the officer stepped directly in front of the oncoming truck to compel the driver to stop, but the vehicle could not be halted in time.
The harrowing event has thrown the area into mourning, drawing shock and concern from onlookers and residents regarding road safety compliance and enforcement protocols.
