Motorists can now purchase affordable fuel at NNPC stations nationwide following the federal government’s announcement of a temporary pricing discount offered by the national oil company.

Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele announced on Thursday that the price reduction applies exclusively to NNPC retail outlets, with priority focus given to public transport operators across the country.

Here are five key approaches to secure the discount and maximize savings:

  • Download the NNPC Fuel App: Download and register on the official NNPC Fuel App via Google Play or the Apple App Store, as utilization of the digital platform is mandatory to receive the promotion.
  • Pay through the app at the station: The price reduction applies to every litre bought at participating NNPC Retail stations, and motorists can use the built-in station locator to locate the nearest eligible outlet. NNPC clarified that the offer remains restricted to its retail network and does not establish a universal pump price for independent marketers.
  • Buy before end of October 31: Introduced on October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the promotional pricing will run throughout October at NNPC Retail locations nationwide to provide sustained financial relief.
  • Public transporters should register too: Transport operators receive priority access under the relief initiative. Because the program is digitally managed, commercial drivers, transport unions, and fleet operators must register on the platform to unlock the benefits.
  • Check the pump price to calculate the saving: The N66 discount is deducted directly from the daily prevailing pump price rather than establishing a flat rate. For instance, with Abuja stations selling at N1,370 and Lagos at N1,350 per litre, app users pay N1,304 and N1,284 respectively, prior to further market adjustments.

NNPC emphasized that the program functions strictly as a customer relief measure rather than a reinstatement of the general petroleum subsidy.
