The Independent National Electoral Commission in Imo State has formally petitioned the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Police Force regarding an allegedly fraudulent All Progressives Congress senatorial primary election report circulating online, which claimed Senator Rochas Okorocha secured the party nomination for the Imo West Senatorial District.
In official communications issued on October 5 and 8, 2026, Resident Electoral Commissioner Chukwuemeka Ibeziako characterized the controversial document as entirely fabricated and inconsistent with the official records submitted to the commission headquarters.
The REC clarified that the genuine report, finalized on May 18, 2026, officially designated Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma as the legitimate winner and candidate for the district, contrasting with the contested paperwork featuring Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Commission officials confirmed that both the official record and the contested document were submitted alongside the security petitions labeled as Annexures A and B, respectively, prompting law enforcement to trace the origins of the unauthorized paperwork.
Highlighting potential risks to public peace, INEC urged immediate security intervention to address the dissemination of misleading election materials across the state.
