Senator Rochas Okorocha, the former Governor of Imo State, was taken into custody by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Abuja on Monday evening, according to confirmations given to Channels Television by the Imo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu.
Following roughly an hour of questioning regarding accusations involving criminal conspiracy, identity impersonation, and document forgery, police authorities granted the former governor administrative bail.
CSP Iniedu verified both the arrest and the subsequent release, adding that Okorocha has been instructed to report back to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday to assist with ongoing investigative procedures.
The police action reportedly stems from Okorocha’s repeated failure to answer formal administrative summonses related to the active inquiry.
Records indicate that an initial appearance scheduled for September 2 was postponed to September 8 following legal representation requests—a rescheduled date he also failed to attend.
