The governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, has officially resigned his membership from the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Kashim formally communicated his resignation in a statement issued on Monday, disclosing that his decision took effect from Friday, October 16, 2026.
The former governorship contender explained that his departure followed extensive deliberation and personal assessment, reassuring supporters that walking away from the NDC would not dampen his dedication to advancing the socio-economic welfare of Bauchi State.
My conviction remains that our dear state deserves purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for our youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen can live with dignity and hope,
Kashim stated.
Addressing his political grassroots, the former candidate affirmed that his political career remains active and focused on driving sustainable development across the state.
He expressed his intention to continue building alliances with key political actors and community stakeholders who share his development vision for a peaceful, secure, and economically vibrant state.
While Kashim stopped short of declaring his immediate transition to a new political platform, he pledged to reveal his next political destination after ongoing consultations conclude.
In due course, we shall communicate to you the next phase of our struggle and the direction we intend to take,
he noted.
Kashim urged his followers and political associates across the 20 local government areas of Bauchi State to remain peaceful, calm, and united during the transition phase.
Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,
he concluded.
