The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has declared that northerners are dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu because his administration has failed to deliver on its campaign promises to the nation.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed explained that public discontent with the current government is not limited to the northern region, emphasizing that Nigerians across all geopolitical zones are disappointed by the administration’s inability to address pressing national challenges.

He noted that widespread frustration stems from the public perception that the President remains out of touch with the struggles of citizens while failing to fulfill core commitments made ahead of taking office.

It’s nothing to do with being northern at all. There are a lot of elite, there are a lot of Nigerians who are angry with Tinubu because he’s not listening to anybody, Baba-Ahmed stated during the broadcast.

Clarifying the political sentiments in the region, the PRP leader rejected claims that northern political leaders are simply upset over a lack of access or patronage, maintaining that their grievances reflect nationwide economic concerns.

I can tell you, the North is not angry with Tinubu because he’s not listening to them. The North is angry with Tinubu like other Nigerians are angry with Tinubu because he came here on the promise to fix a lot of the things that are wrong, and he didn’t, he explained.

Assessing the administration’s performance over the past three and a half years, Baba-Ahmed argued that socioeconomic conditions, including inflation and insecurity, have deteriorated rather than improved.

His observations come as political coalition discussions, policy assessments, and party realignments intensify nationwide ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Political analysts view the 2027 presidential poll as a major test of public trust for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as opposition parties prepare to challenge the administration on its governance record and economic reforms.
