The African Action Congress (AAC) has formally written to President Bola Tinubu requesting authorization to utilize the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, as the official venue for launching the 2027 Presidential Campaign Council of its standard-bearer, Omoyele Sowore, on November 11, 2026.

The formal request was contained in an official letter dated October 21, 2026, signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena, and released to the press on Wednesday.

In addition to requesting the use of the State House grounds, the opposition party asked the Federal Government to provide catering, refreshments, and operational logistics for an estimated 5,000 delegates traveling from across Nigeria and the diaspora.

Defending its request, the AAC argued that public infrastructure and state resources should be accessible to all political parties under the principles of multiparty democracy, non-discrimination, and equal opportunity.

The party cited similar logistical allocations allegedly enjoyed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the Tinubu administration to demonstrate political tolerance and institutional fairness by granting the request.

The development, which was also posted across the party’s official social media handles alongside campaign hashtags, has generated widespread public discussion among political observers and commentators.

While some critics dismissed the request as a publicity stunt that could compromise State House security protocols, supporters praised the initiative as a bold assertion of democratic equity and constitutional rights.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency had not issued an official response regarding the opposition party’s application.
