President Bola Tinubu has declared that ultimate political authority rests solely with Almighty Allah, affirming that the Almighty holds the power to withdraw leadership from him and bestow it upon another if he fails to govern in alignment with divine dictates.

The President articulated his reflections on leadership responsibilities during a video interview shared by the Tinubu Media Centre following his spiritual pilgrimage (Umrah) to Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on his spiritual journey, Tinubu explained that he returned to the Holy Mosque to express gratitude for his electoral victory and to seek divine guidance, wisdom, and strength to lead Nigeria through its current national challenges.

“There’s no other God but Almighty Allah. He’s the giver and the taker. He owns the power. He says, use it well. If you don’t use it in accordance with my dictates, I can take it from you and give it to another person,” Tinubu stated.

The President described his election as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as an unmerited favor from God among millions of citizens across the federation.

“Out of millions of people, to be the President and Commander-in-Chief is a favour from God Almighty,” he noted.

Reflecting on his experience at the Holy Mosque, Tinubu expressed deep appreciation for good health, safe passage, and the spiritual fulfillment experienced during the pilgrimage.

“I feel fulfilled and grateful to Almighty Allah, given us the opportunity, the health, the day that went very well,” he said.

He disclosed that his core supplication during the pilgrimage was for divine assistance in unifying Nigeria’s diverse religious and ethnic populace toward national economic growth.

“The prayer is for Allah, subhana to Allah, to comfort our diversity. Nigeria is full of diverse people. It’s made up of all the faiths,” Tinubu said.

“May Allah comfort our diversity to prosperity for the entire country. That’s the prayer,” he added.

Recalling a similar spiritual trip prior to the 2023 general elections, the President affirmed his belief that his prayers for wisdom and resilience had been answered.

“Well, I ask for wisdom and resilience to continue to serve the people. I know that has been granted. Prior to 2023 election, I did the same thing,” he explained.

“I asked Allah to bless my Umrah then. He did, and I promise that I’ll come back to thank him,” he remarked.

Reaffirming his administration’s policy trajectory, Tinubu promised to maintain high dedication toward economic transformation and citizen welfare.

“My commitment is higher, determined to bring prosperity, to develop the country consistent with the wish of Allah and the support of the people,” he stated.

He urged citizens and political leaders to prioritize godliness, personal integrity, and patriotism in public service.

“It is important to put Allah first, then move on. Follow your conscience. Follow the right path that will lead Nigeria to that greatness,” Tinubu advised.

Touching on national macroeconomic conditions, the President declared that recent structural reforms had set the nation on a positive trajectory.

“The foundation is solid. The economy has come out of the dark tunnel. It’s inspiring,” he asserted.

Tinubu highlighted youth development as a critical priority for his administration, warning that present leaders would be judged by the economic opportunities created for future generations.

“We need to build a future for our youth. If we don’t invest in their future, in 50 years from now, how do we want to be remembered as leaders? That’s the main thing. I’m not looking for anything else,” he emphasized.

Expressing appreciation to host authorities in Saudi Arabia for the warm reception, the President noted that seeing Nigeria’s national colors displayed near the Holy Kaaba deepened his sense of gratitude and resolve.

“We are all facing challenges and hostility around us. We will overcome it with faith in God Almighty. I am grateful forever,” Tinubu concluded.
