Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has called on leaders and supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to cease verbal attacks on the judiciary following the party’s decision to appeal a Federal High Court ruling that nullified its national leadership.
Sani commended the ADC for choosing the legal path to challenge the judgment but cautioned party chieftains against making derogatory comments that undermine public trust in the judicial system.
Writing on his official X account on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the former lawmaker urged ADC members to show decorum and refrain from leveling unfounded accusations against members of the bench.
“Now that they have appealed their case, that is the right thing to do. The next step is to restrain their tongues against the judiciary, and appeal to their supporters to stop insulting judges or making false and baseless allegations against them,” Sani stated. “After submitting your thesis, avoid insulting your supervisor.”
The Senator’s advice follows the ruling delivered by Justice Peter Lifu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 5, 2026, which set aside the Senator David Mark-led ADC executive committee over constitutional breaches during its emergence.
The court verdict effectively invalidated official actions undertaken by the Mark-led leadership, including the primary election that nominated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s 2027 presidential flagbearer.
In response, the ADC filed a notice of appeal alongside an application for stay of execution at the Court of Appeal on November 6.
The party has also formally notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the pending legal challenge, requesting that the commission withhold further administrative actions until the appellate court delivers its decision.
