Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has approved the appointment of Alfred Abah as Senior Special Assistant on Civil Service Matters.

Secondus Sends Strong Warning To Tinubu Concerning Wike

Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has cautioned that the unchecked actions of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, could pose a serious threat to the country’s democracy.

This warning came as Rivers State’s new Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Bala, visited several local government secretariats that were attacked by thugs following recent unrest in the state.

Reacting to the conduct surrounding last Saturday’s local government elections in Rivers State, and what he described as the “indecorous behavior” of Wike and his supporters, Secondus called Wike the greatest threat to Nigeria’s democracy today, urging authorities to monitor him closely.

He further cautioned the federal government that the individual they are protecting may ultimately work to undermine the nation’s democratic system.

“It’s only in this country and under the watch of a party like APC that one person will be a member of two political parties and use them to cause nuisance in the society,” he said.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to recognize Nyesom Wike for who he truly is—an unruly force, likened to a bull in a china shop, prepared to destroy everything around him to satisfy his aggressive tendencies.

Secondus reminded the federal government of the strategic importance of Rivers State, which hosts critical national assets, and advised Tinubu to collaborate with Governor Siminalayi Fubara to safeguard those assets by curbing Wike’s excessive ambitions.

He also congratulated the people of Rivers State, particularly the voters, for turning out in large numbers during the elections and standing firm against Wike’s threats.

Secondus praised Governor Fubara for his commitment to democracy, providing leadership when it was most needed by refusing to be intimidated.

Finally, Secondus warned that all signs of a failing democracy were already present in Nigeria, urging the federal government to be cautious in how it handles anti-democratic figures like Wike.
