Kabiru Classic, a former member of the House of Representatives, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Classic made the announcement on Thursday after a meeting with Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Lawal M. Liman, Chairman of the Senator Abdul’aziz Yari Political Organization, and other APC leaders from Zamfara in Kaduna.
Kabiru Yahayya Classic, who represented the Anka/Talata Mafara Federal Constituency in the 9th Assembly from 2019 to 2023 under the PDP banner, made the move along with the entire PDP structure in Talata Mafara Local Government Area.
This included the local PDP Chairman and 10 out of 11 PDP Ward Chairmen in the area.

Explaining his decision, the former lawmaker stated that his departure from the PDP was due to the lack of justice and fairness within the Zamfara chapter of the party.
“I Kabiru Yahayya Classic, Today, Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, wish to announce my defection from the PDP to the progressive party, the APC.
“I am defecting with All PDP structures in Talata Mafara Local Government Area including the Local Government EXCO of the PDP and the 10 out of 11 Ward Chairmen of the PDP.
Receiving the Lawmaker, the State APC Chairman, Tukur Umar Danfulani described Classic defection as a welcome development for the APC.
“We are happy to receive our brother in our great party, this is a great development.
“More defectors from the PDP-led Government in Zamfara are ready to join the APC very soon
“We assured the Classic and all the defectors of fair treatment in APC, adding that the APC has a great structure with good internal democracy”, Danfulani explained.
Also speaking, Alhaji Lawal M Liman, the Chairman of Sen Yari’s Political Organization, praised Kabiru Classic and other defectors for joining the progressive team.
Liman described the APC as the only party with a manifesto capable of advancing both Zamfara and Nigeria.
This defection comes just a week after Federal Lawmaker Suleiman Gummi, who represents the Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, announced his switch from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
