After months of intense campaigns and political maneuvering, residents of Ondo State have elected their governor for the next four years—Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The Returning Officer for the election, Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja in Kogi State, officially declared Aiyedatiwa the winner on Sunday.
The announcement ensures the incumbent governor will continue his tenure at the Government House in Alagbaka, Akure.

Aiyedatiwa, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured 366,781 votes, decisively defeating his closest competitor, Ajayi Agboola, the former deputy governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 117,845 votes—more than half of Aiyedatiwa’s total.
