On Tuesday, the Senate dedicated its plenary session to honoring the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South in the National Assembly.
The casket containing the senator’s remains was placed in state at the foyer of the White House wing, directly in front of the Senate Chamber.
The order paper for the day contained a single item: “Valedictory Session,” reflecting the somber nature of the proceedings.

In a mark of respect, Senate President Godswill Akpabio wore traditional Isi-Enyi attire, complete with a red cap and dark sunglasses.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele also dressed in Isi-Agwu attire.
Senator Ubah’s seat in the chamber was draped in a cloth bearing the colors of the Nigerian flag and adorned with flowers, as a tribute to his memory.
The session was opened to the public, allowing dignitaries and invited guests to join in paying their respects.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Anambra State Governor Chris Ngige, and former Anambra Central Senator Uche Ekwunife were among the attendees.

The wives of the Senate’s presiding and principal officers were also present, including Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of the Senate President, and Hajiya Jibrin Barau, the wife of the Deputy Senate President.
Earlier in the day, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, led a delegation of House leaders in a solemn procession around the late senator’s casket.
The atmosphere in the Senate was filled with reflection and respect as the chamber paid its final tributes to Senator Ubah, honoring his contributions to the legislative body.
