Several members of Donald Trump’s incoming administration have been targeted with threats, including bomb alerts, the FBI confirmed on Wednesday.
One nominee, Lee Zeldin, reported a pipe bomb threat that was accompanied by a pro-Palestinian message.
“The FBI is aware of multiple bomb threats and swatting incidents directed at incoming administration nominees and appointees. We are working closely with our law enforcement partners to investigate these threats,” the agency said in a statement.

Swatting involves falsely reporting emergencies to police, often leading to a dangerous and unnecessary response. This practice, which has become more common in the U.S., has previously been used against political figures.
Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s transition team, condemned the violent threats, calling them “unAmerican” and stating that several appointees and nominees had been targeted for their beliefs, with threats aimed not just at them, but also their families.
Elise Stefanik, a Trump ally nominated for UN ambassador, revealed that her home in New York had been targeted with a bomb threat. She and her family were driving home from Washington for the Thanksgiving holiday when they were informed of the threat.
Zeldin, Trump’s pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, also disclosed that his home had been targeted with a pipe bomb threat, which was accompanied by a message related to the Palestinian cause. He confirmed that he and his family were not home at the time of the threat.
Fox News Digital reported that John Ratcliffe, Trump’s nominee for CIA director, and Pete Hegseth, the defense secretary pick, were also among those targeted, though those reports have not been confirmed by the FBI.
As Trump prepares to return to the House of Representatives in January, he has rapidly assembled a cabinet of loyalists, some of whom have been criticized for their lack of experience in government roles.
Trump, who appears poised to avoid trial over attempts to overturn the 2020 election results, has faced ongoing security threats.
In July, he was injured in a shooting incident during a campaign rally, though the shooter was killed in return fire. In September, authorities arrested another individual accused of plotting to shoot Trump while he played golf at his course in West Palm Beach, Florida.
