Hauwa Duguri, the stepmother of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, has passed away at the age of 120.

The news of her death was confirmed in a press statement released on Wednesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, who conveyed his profound sadness and extended heartfelt condolences.

Gidado stated, “Hauwa Duguri, fondly known as Dada, was the revered stepmother of Governor Bala Mohammed. A symbol of wisdom and grace, she passed away today, 1st January 2025, at the remarkable age of 120.”

He further remarked that her passing signifies the end of an era marked by selflessness, piety, and unwavering dedication to community service—qualities she embodied throughout her long and impactful life.

The Janazah (funeral prayer) will take place today at 4:00 pm at Dr. Rilwan Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi.

Governor Mohammed, offering his heartfelt condolences to the Duguri family and all who had the privilege of knowing her, called on everyone to join him in praying for her soul’s peaceful repose and in honoring her lasting legacy.

He prayed that Almighty Allah grant her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus and provide her family with the strength to endure this profound loss.
