Court Sends ‘Gospel Singer’ To Prison Over Murder Of Girlfriend

A Nasarawa State High Court has remanded Timilehin Ajayi, an acclaimed gospel singer, after he was discovered in possession of Salome Adaidu’s severed head, a member of the National Youth Service Corps.

The remand was verified by a statement from the Nasarawa State Police Command posted on X (previously Twitter) on Friday.

According to the statement, Ajayi was charged in court and remanded in prison pending his formal arraignment.

The incident began when Caleb Umaru, the church’s Bible Study Teacher and General Secretary, claimed that a church member had noticed Ajayi acting suspiciously near a river.

The member notified others after Ajayi threw a bag into the river, which was later recovered and discovered to contain his girlfriend Adaidu’s decapitated head.

Ajayi, who acknowledged to the crime, stated that he killed Adaidu after discovering she was cheating on him.

However, the deceased’s relatives denied his claims, claiming that Adaidu was never in a relationship with Ajayi and was supposedly kidnapped, rather than visiting him as early stories stated.
