The Lagos State House of Assembly has directed its officials to require valid identity cards for access to the premises, marking a move to strengthen security at the complex.
This development follows ongoing controversies surrounding the impeachment of Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
A source who visited the Assembly on Monday mentioned that while the area was calm as plenary resumed, a notice to staff, signed by Omotayo Adekemi on behalf of the Acting Clerk of the House, Taiwo Ottun, stated that all staff members and legislative aides must present valid identity cards to enter the premises.

Ottun emphasized that anyone without an ID card would be denied entry.
The Lagos State Police Command has also pledged to maintain order in the state, regardless of developments at the assembly.
The new directive comes two days after Obasa publicly stated that he remained the speaker until due process was followed.
Obasa was removed by a majority of House members on January 13, 2025, following allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement, and was replaced by Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State House is scheduled to hold a plenary session on Monday, marking the third session presided over by Meranda since Obasa’s removal. Obasa has been absent from the last two sittings.
