The Osun State High Court in Ilesa has directed the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) to hold elections for the vacant local government chairman and councillor positions in all 30 local government areas and the area office in Osun State.

This ruling was issued on Friday, February 21, 2025, following a lawsuit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), one of the political parties involved in the election.
