In an unexpected turn of events, all police escorts assigned to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, as well as those stationed at the Assembly complex, have been withdrawn with immediate effect, leaving both the Speaker and the legislative building unprotected.
Confirming the development, the Speaker’s Special Adviser on Information, Victor Ganzallo, voiced serious concern over the sudden removal of security personnel.

“As we speak, all security has been withdrawn from the Speaker, and she is now left on her own,” Ganzallo stated.
He cautioned that the Speaker is now “exposed and at risk,” stressing the urgent need to address the security gap.
The reason for the withdrawal remains unknown, as neither the Lagos State Police Command nor the state government has issued an official statement on the matter.
This situation has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of government officials and the security of the Lagos Assembly premises.
