Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has stated that Nigerian courts have prohibited the unlawful suspension of lawmakers.
In a statement on Sunday, Falana pointed out that, following court rulings, including the Court of Appeal’s decision on the illegality of suspending elected members of legislative bodies, the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan is a prime example of legislative misconduct.
He urged the Senate to immediately revoke Senator Natasha’s suspension, emphasizing that since the Federal High Court had barred the Senate Ethics Committee from hearing the case against her until the motion on notice is resolved, the Senate should have suspended further action in accordance with the rule of law.
