An official attached to Ikeja Electric Plc survived an electric shock after getting stuck on a utility pole while carrying out repairs around the Gbagada axis of Lagos State.

The sudden mishap, which took place close to the Gbagada Bus Stop, caused immediate panic among commuters and passersby who watched the tense rescue unfold on the elevated structure.

Footage making the rounds online captured two fellow field workers battling to safely bring down their trapped colleague, with a voice in the background reassuring the crowd, “This is Gbagada Bus Stop. This incident just happened now. Light just shocked the guy; he is a NEPA guy. Now they’re trying to bring him down; he’s not dead.”

Confirming the development on Thursday, the Head of Corporate Communications for Ikeja Electric, Kingsley Okotie, stated, “He is being treated. He is recuperating in hospital. All necessary safety protocols are being put in place to ensure it does not happen again.”
