Tinubu Declares State Of Emergency In Rivers State

President Bola Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State due to the ongoing political crisis.

During a nationwide broadcast on Tuesday, Tinubu announced the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the state House of Assembly for six months.

According to Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution, a state of emergency is declared in situations of national danger or disaster, allowing the government to suspend normal constitutional processes to restore order.

With this declaration, the President gains the authority to enact immediate regulations aimed at maintaining public safety and stability.
