What Will Happen To Fubara – Tompolo

Former Niger Delta militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, widely known as Tompolo, has voiced his belief that the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, will be restored to his position.

Ekpemupolo made this statement during his birthday celebrations over the weekend in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.

It’s important to remember that President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency on March 18, 2025, which led to the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, and members of the State House of Assembly.

Following this, the President appointed former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), as the sole administrator to manage the state’s affairs for an initial six-month period.

While addressing guests at the event, Tompolo underscored the unity and resilience of the Ijaw Nation, stating: “We have only one state, and our focus remains on Bayelsa. If you think power lies solely in being president or governor, and you attempt to undermine Bayelsa, you will face consequences.

“One of us is stronger than twenty. Our brother, the governor of Bayelsa State, no matter our political disagreements—will always have our support.

“Even in Rivers State, our son Fubara will return to his rightful place. Dialogue and understanding will prevail.”

Tompolo also reflected on the political dynamics that led to Fubara’s emergence, specifically mentioning the role of former Governor Nyesom Wike in Fubara’s rise to power.

He said: “Wike is my friend, but when he chose Fubara, no Ijaw man was involved or consulted. Yet, here we are standing for truth.”
