Court Delivers Ruling On Obasa’s Removal As Lagos Speaker

The Lagos High Court in Ikeja has ruled that the removal of the reinstated Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, was unlawful, unconstitutional, and therefore invalid.

In a judgment delivered on Wednesday, the court also invalidated the proceedings and resolutions of the House conducted on January 13, 2025, which led to Obasa’s removal.

Obasa had initiated legal action against the House of Assembly and Mojisola Meranda, who was appointed as the new Speaker at the time, to challenge the legality of his ouster.
