EFCC Arrests E-Money

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested well-known Lagos socialite, Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, also known as E-Money, for alleged abuse of the Naira currency.

Reports indicate that he was apprehended on Monday night at his home in the Omole area of Lagos.

Sources within the EFCC stated on Tuesday that E-Money’s arrest was due to allegations of spraying United States dollars, an action reportedly in violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.

One source within the commission explained, “On Monday night, we arrested E-Money for Naira abuse and defacing foreign currencies. Specifically, he was alleged to have sprayed U.S. dollars, which is against the Foreign Exchange Act. He was arrested at his Omole, Lagos residence. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and he will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

Another source, who confirmed the arrest, told reporters that E-Money is currently being transported to Abuja for questioning regarding the matter.

This source, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, “Yes, he has been arrested and is being flown to Abuja as I speak, to face investigators on the issue.”
