Ganduje Reveals Big Names From PDP Set To Defect To APC

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, announced that the senators from Kebbi State who were elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were prepared to defect to the APC.

Ganduje made this statement to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa on Friday.

The APC chairman accompanied Kebbi State Governor Dr. Nasir Idris and Senators Adamu Aliero, Yahaya Abdullahi, and Garba Maidoki to the meeting with President Tinubu.

He explained that extensive behind-the-scenes discussions had taken place among key stakeholders in Kebbi, leading to the decision that the three PDP senators from the state would switch to the APC.

“This is a good development and it is in consonance with what is happening in Nigeria today. Almost every week in the Senate and House of Representatives, you see members of other political parties decamping to our party,” Ganduje stated.

He added, “So, we came here so that Mr President will bless this resolution and he has graciously given his blessing, and by Tuesday you will see what will happen in the Red Chambers.”

Ganduje assured a smooth integration of the defecting senators into the APC, citing the party’s constitution and political experience in managing such transitions.

He also dismissed concerns about a one-party state, saying, “We are not saying we are working for a one-party system, but if this is the wish of Nigerians we cannot quarrel with that. You know they say too many cooks spoil the soup; too many political parties spoil governance.”

Ganduje emphasized that this move aligned with President Tinubu’s initiative to democratically increase the APC’s numerical strength, quality, and capacity of followership.
