Gunmen have killed Comrade Jerry Jeremiah, an All Progressives Congress (APC) youth leader from Apa Local Government Area, and Chief Adejo Anthony Denison, the District Head of Odugbeho in Agatu LGA, both of Benue State, while they were farming.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Wednesday along the Otukpo-Otobi-Akpa Road in Otukpo Local Government Area. Eyewitnesses stated that the victims were engaged in farming activities when they were attacked.
Sources indicated that the farmland, although situated in Otukpo LGA, is commonly leased by individuals from neighboring areas, including Agatu, for agricultural purposes.

This killing happened just a day after another APC chieftain and six other people were murdered in separate attacks across Gwer East and Makurdi LGAs.
Mavis James Ejeh, the Chairman of Agatu LGA, confirmed the traditional ruler’s death in a phone interview.
“Chief Tony Adejo was killed while working on his farm in Otobi by armed men. Despite this tragic incident, Odugbeho remains calm. We urge our people not to take the law into their own hands,” Ejeh said.
He advised Agatu residents to be cautious and collaborate with security agencies, especially when farming outside their local government area.
Reacting to the incident, former Vice Chairman of Agatu LGA, John Ikwulono, and former government official, Olikita Ekani, conveyed their profound sorrow, describing the deceased leaders as dedicated and influential members of their communities.
