A 43-year-old man named Kazeem, from the Edun area of Ilorin, Kwara State, tragically died last Friday after allegedly consuming the hard drug “Colo” (Colorado) and then jumping into a well.
Sources indicate that the incident occurred shortly after Kazeem returned home from Eid prayers that morning. Reportedly under the influence of the substance, he jumped into a domestic well in Alapo Compound, Edun, Ilorin.
The Kwara State Fire Service promptly responded to a distress call. Service spokesman Hassan Adekunle confirmed the incident in a statement released Saturday, saying, “The distress call was received by our control room at about 10:29 a.m., reporting that a man had fallen into a well.”

He added, “Our firefighters were immediately mobilized and successfully recovered the lifeless body of the victim from the well.”

The recovered body was handed over to Inspector Babatunde Amos of the Nigeria Police Force’s ‘C’ Division in Ilorin, pending formal identification and claim by the victim’s family.
Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, used the opportunity to warn the public against drug abuse, emphasizing that substance misuse frequently leads to preventable and tragic outcomes.
