Tinubu is ‘Personally Pained’ By Buhari’s Death – Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima stated on Wednesday that President Bola Tinubu is “personally pained” by the passing of late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Shettima made these remarks after a brief prayer for Buhari’s soul at the deceased’s residence in Daura, Katsina State.

Shettima described Buhari’s death as a profound loss, not only for his family, the people of Daura, or Katsina State, but for the entire nation and the African continent.

He noted that people from across the globe have called to commiserate with President Tinubu over the “sad demise of our elder statesman.”

Reflecting on mortality, Shettima emphasized that death is an inevitable destiny for everyone, likening individuals to travelers awaiting their final journey.

He recounted President Tinubu’s direct involvement: “The president was personally pained by the loss. He sent me to London earlier on to go and visit the late president. I was there for two days, and when he answered the call of Allah, the president equally directed me and the chief of staff to go and accompany the family and the body of the late president back home.”

He further added that, in consultation with President Tinubu, Buhari’s family, and the Katsina State Government, it was unanimously decided that a formal prayer for the repose of the late President’s soul would be held on Thursday by noon.

The Vice President highlighted that the late former president was “not an ordinary person” and encouraged Nigerians from all walks of life to continue offering their condolences to the government and people of Katsina State.

VP Shettima concluded by praying to Allah to grant Buhari eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus and to protect his surviving family.

Shettima confirmed that the Katsina State Governor and members of the late President’s family would remain in Daura to accept condolences.

However, he stated, “the formal ceremony will come to an end tomorrow based on consultation between His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the family of the late President and the governor of Katsina state.”
