Damagum Reacts To Atiku’s Resignation From PDP

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Iliya Damagum, has characterized former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s resignation from the party as a familiar and recurring event in the PDP’s political history.

Speaking to newsmen on Friday in Bauchi, Damagum stated, “This is not the first time; we’re expecting him back.”

He added that the PDP is neither shocked nor overly concerned by Atiku’s departure, noting that the party has grown accustomed to his repeated exits and returns over the years.

Damagum implied that Atiku’s latest move aligns with a historical pattern, suggesting the party views his resignation as part of his ongoing political strategy rather than a permanent break.

He hinted that the PDP’s calm response stems from its confidence in its own resilience or skepticism about the permanence of Atiku’s decision, especially given reports that he is forming a new political platform, the Alliance for Democratic Congress, in preparation for future elections.
