Anambra Governorship Election Candidate Ezenwafor Shot In Abuja

Chief Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming 2025 Anambra State election, was shot by unknown gunmen in Abuja on Friday night.

Ezenwafor was attacked in the Wuse 2 area of the capital city while returning home from an appointment and is currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital in the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking to journalists from his hospital bed early Saturday morning, a visibly shaken Ezenwafor described the incident as a near-death experience, stating in a faint voice, “I’m currently in the hospital. The doctors are making efforts to operate me so that they can pull out bullets from my body.”

While details are still emerging, his media team has confirmed he sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to the emergency unit after the attack.

Although security agencies have not yet issued an official statement, a source close to the PDP campaign team indicated that the incident has been reported to the police, and an investigation is underway.

Ezenwafor, who was previously a presidential aspirant under the Labour Party before rejoining the PDP, was recently confirmed as the party’s flagbearer for the Anambra State governorship election scheduled for later this year.
