Who Coalition Leaders Will Support As ADC Presidential Candidate – Amaechi

Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, announced on Wednesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, that coalition leaders will fully back the presidential candidate who emerges from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 general elections.

Amaechi, a two-term former governor of Rivers State, assured journalists that opposition leaders are confident the ADC’s primary process will be transparent, free, and fair.

“The moment anybody emerges from the primary, all of us will support; that’s the agreement,” he stated, emphasizing their insistence on “a free and fair, transparent primary.”

The former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) also criticized the pervasive hunger and hardship across Nigeria.

He urged every resident of Rivers State to register with the ADC and work to unseat the ruling APC in the 2027 elections.

“Every Rivers man who thinks good of the state and country should move to register with the new party and ensure that we remove the current government and stop the hunger that everybody is suffering from,” Amaechi declared.

The ADC has been adopted as a platform to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid. Prominent members of this new coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, both of whom were runners-up in the last presidential election.

Other experienced politicians in the group are former Senate President David Mark, who, like Atiku, recently left the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.

At the coalition’s unveiling on July 2, interim chairman David Mark stated that the coalition’s aim is to safeguard Nigeria’s democracy and prevent the country from becoming a one-party state.
