INEC Announces Date To Begin Nationwide Voter Registration

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the 2025 Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will commence nationwide on August 18.

The commission shared this information on its X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, August 1, 2025. According to the announcement, online pre-registration for voters will begin on August 18 via INEC’s official portal, cvr.inecnigeria.org.

In-person registration is scheduled to start a week later, on August 25, and will be conducted at all INEC local government area offices and designated registration centers across the country.

The exercise will run from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

INEC urged citizens not to miss the opportunity to register, stating, “Your votes start with registration. Don’t miss your opportunity to register.”
