Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Professor Jerry Gana, has expressed confidence that the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, would be able to defeat all other contestants in the 2027 presidential election if he ran under the PDP banner.
Speaking on Arise News, Gana said that Obi would capture the votes of the northern states by contesting on the platform of the leading opposition party.
This statement comes despite Obi’s assertion that he is still a member of the Labour Party and intends to remain with them for the time being while collaborating with the coalition led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Gana said, “The PDP is on the ground. I’m a researcher, and I research opinions. In the northern states, Peter Obi under the PDP will defeat any candidate because our people are very fair-minded and just.
“We are reaching out to Peter Obi. Because I’m leading a search team and there are many brilliant people. Peter may be good, but we have somebody better. So, we are searching.
“We made a mistake in 2023. If I were Atiku, I would say, ‘Peter, it is now your turn; I would give you a Vice President,’ but he didn’t,” Gana lamented.
