Tinubu Reacts As Helicopter Crash Kills Eight Including Two Ministers In Ghana

President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to Ghanaian President John Mahama and the people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that killed eight people, including two government ministers.

In a statement released on Wednesday by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu offered the “thoughts and prayers of the government and people of Nigeria” to Ghana during this time of national mourning.

He urged the nation and the bereaved families to find solace in the fact that the victims died while serving their country.

Tinubu also prayed for the souls of the deceased and for strength for their loved ones.

The Ghanaian Armed Forces reported that the helicopter, which was carrying three crew members and five passengers, went off the radar on Wednesday.

Joy News, a local television station, broadcast footage showing the wreckage in a heavily forested area.

The crash claimed the lives of Defense Minister Edward Boamah, Environment Minister Ibrahim Muhammed, and several other notable figures, including Muniru Mohammed, Ghana’s deputy national security coordinator, and Samuel Sarpong, the vice chairman of Mahama’s National Democratic Congress party.

The helicopter was reportedly en route to an event focused on illegal mining.
