Presidency Speaks As Report Claims Tinubu To Be Flown Abroad For Urgent Medical Attention

The Presidency has denied a report from the International Centre for Investigative Report (ICIR) that President Bola Tinubu is sick.

The newspaper had alleged that the President had been bedridden for several days and that preparations were underway to fly him abroad for urgent medical attention.

Presidential aides have dismissed the report as false. Speaking with BBC Hausa on Monday, AbdulAziz AbdulAziz, the President’s Senior Assistant on Print Media, stated: “There is no scintilla of truth in that report; as I speak to you, the President is currently in his office attending to state matters.”

Similarly, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, told The ICIR that “people just tell you all kinds of rumours that have no basis at all.”

He confirmed the President’s active schedule, adding: “He was in his office yesterday [August 5]. I was with him. I went to see him. He came to work.”

Onanuga also noted that the President has the option to work from either his office or his home.
