Keyamo Announces When Ibom Air Passenger Will Be Released From Kirikiri Prison

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo has announced that Comfort Emmanson, the passenger accused of unruly behavior on an Ibom Air flight, will be released from prison this week.

In a statement on his X page, Keyamo said the release follows the withdrawal of the criminal complaint by Ibom Air and consultations with key aviation stakeholders.

He also noted that Emmanson showed “great remorse” for her conduct during police questioning.

Keyamo’s statement confirmed: “Subsequent to the withdrawal of the complaint by the Complainant, the CP of Airport Command and the Police Prosecutor will immediately take the remaining steps to facilitate her release from Kirikiri Prisons within this week.”

He added that he conferred with the leadership of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and appealed to them to lift the “life-time flying ban” imposed on her, to which they agreed.

The AON is expected to provide further details on the resolution.
