The gathering also served as a show of support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.
Alhaji Sidi described the attack as “unprovoked” and stated that the rally had been rescheduled from Saturday to Sunday to avoid tension.
He said, “They descended on us to attack our supporters, injured many innocent people, and vandalised their properties.”
This was the “first recorded incident of violence at a parallel APC rally in the state.”
