Rivers Administrator Ibas Swears In Newly Elected LG Chairmen

The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (Rtd.), has officially sworn in the newly elected chairmen of the state’s 23 local government councils.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Government House after the chairmen received their certificates of return from the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

The local government elections, held on Saturday, saw the All Progressives Congress (APC) win 20 of the 23 local governments and the councillorship in 20 LGAs.

In contrast, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won only two local governments and three councils.

Some of the newly elected chairmen have previously served under the administration of former Governor Nyesom Wike.
