President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday met with the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), at the Presidential Villa in a closed-door meeting that lasted over two hours.
The meeting took place just days before the six-month “state of emergency” declared in Rivers State is scheduled to end on September 18.

The emergency rule was declared on March 18 to address a “protracted political crisis” that had led to violence and a breakdown of governance in the oil-rich state.
During the declaration, President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other state officials, appointing Ibas to “restore order.”
While no official details from the meeting were released, sources at the Presidential Villa said the discussions focused on “transition arrangements, security updates, and steps towards a possible handover as the emergency period lapses.”
