Fayose Resigns From PDP, Gives Reason

Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, the younger brother of former Governor Ayodele Fayose, “has withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Ekiti State,” citing “alleged compromise by the party’s national leadership.”

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Fayose accused PDP National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, of “working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He also announced his resignation from the party, saying, “I am using this occasion to formally announce my decision and that of my teeming supporters to resign our membership from the PDP.”

According to Fayose, the party’s leadership has “hindered the progress of the PDP in Ekiti State,” making the primary “an exercise already programmed for failure.”

He stated, “Gentlemen of the press, credible information available at my disposal revealed that the process of the PDP primaries for the Ekiti governorship election has already been compromised.

“Whoever emerges as a candidate will not be recognised by INEC to contest against the ruling APC in the state.

“In view of this, i hereby dissociate myself from this kangaroo arrangement. i urge my teeming supporters and associates to remain calm as I make consultations on my next plan of action,” he said.

Otunba Emmanuel Fayose concluded his address by quoting, “If we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man’s life, sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.”
