Deji Adeyanju Reacts As Peter Obi Sues Him For ‘Defamation’ [PHOTOS]

The human rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has revealed that he has been sued by former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, over alleged defamatory statements made on social media.

Adeyanju, in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening, confirmed the development and expressed satisfaction” that Obi “didn’t chicken out.

Adeyanju “wrote”:“Finally, Peter Obi has sued me. I am actually happy and relieved that he didn’t chicken out in the end,”

“Interestingly, he dragged me all the way to Anambra State, even though he is almost always in Abuja where I reside. But no shaking, we move. I will prove in court that Peter Obi is corrupt, a bigot and a fraud. You will all be entertained, I promise.”

According to a Writ of Summons issued by the High Court of Anambra State, Onitsha Judicial Division, in suit number O/254/25, Peter Gregory Obi is the Plaintiff, while Deji Adeyanju is the Defendant.

The court documents, which posted by Adeyanju dated October 3, 2025, instruct Adeyanju, whose address is listed as D4 Makuru Close, Wuse II, Abuja, to enter an appearance within 42 days of service or risk judgement being entered in his absence.

The summons, which is to be served outside Anambra State in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, summarizes Obi’s claims against Adeyanju.

Obi is seeking a declaration that Adeyanju’s posts on social media platforms, including X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram, were false, baseless, unfounded, malicious, reckless, scandalous, and defamatory.

He also sought an order compelling Adeyanju to publish an unreserved apology and retraction of the alleged defamatory statements within seven days of judgement, across all his social media handles, in at least three national newspapers, and on major television and online platforms such as Channels TV, Arise News, and TVC News.
