President Bola Tinubu has forwarded a new batch of non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The nominations were officially announced during the plenary session on Thursday, after Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s letter on the floor of the chamber.

The new nominees are notable figures from military and political backgrounds, and include:

Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas: Immediate past Sole Administrator of Rivers State and former Chief of Naval Staff.

Ita Enang: Former presidential aide.

Chioma Ohakim: Former Imo State First Lady.

Abdulrahman Dambazau: Former Minister of Interior and former Chief of Army Staff.
In the letter, President Tinubu urged the Senate to give “swift consideration” to the nominees, emphasizing the importance of filling “key diplomatic positions.”
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio referred the list to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and directed the committee to screen the nominees and “report back within one week.”
