In a major holiday intervention, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has officially launched nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre.
This new pricing is currently being implemented across more than 2,000 MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations throughout the country.
The refinery described this move as a critical step in stabilizing Nigeria’s downstream market and providing relief to consumers.
A statement from the refinery praised the “patriotism” of marketers like MRS who have already adjusted their pumps, while urging others to do the same:“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery.”
While the end-of-year holidays are usually marked by fuel scarcity and price hikes, the refinery has guaranteed a daily supply of 50 million litres to prevent such issues.
By refining fuel locally, the company aims to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on global market volatility and strengthen national energy security.
The refinery also issued a sharp warning against “unscrupulous operators” who might try to create artificial scarcity to keep prices high:“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unpatriotic and unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period.”
Nigerians are encouraged to boycott stations selling at inflated rates and patronize outlets offering the ₦739 price.
To ensure compliance, the refinery has provided a dedicated line for reporting overcharging:“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Report any MRS station selling above ₦739 per litre by calling 0800 123 5264.”
