Mrs. Foluke Osafile, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has officially left the Labour Party (LP) to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Osafile, who represents Amuwo-Odofin Constituency-01 and serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Wealth Creation, confirmed the transition on Saturday.
The first-time legislator told reporters, “Yes, it is true. I have defected to the ADC.”
She explained that the move was intended to “serve the interests of her constituency better and secure a brighter future for them.”

Expressing her dedication to her new political home, she stated, “I pledge my full commitment to working with ADC leaders and stakeholders to advance the cause of good governance and effective representation.”
She added that by working together, they would “strengthen our democratic institutions and ensure that the voices of ordinary Nigerians are heard and respected.”
Addressing her voters directly, Osafile said, “To my constituents in Amuwo-Odofin Constituency-01, I reaffirm my unwavering loyalty to you. Your trust remains my guiding principle.”
She further promised, “I assure you that this step is taken to serve your interests better and secure a brighter future for our constituency.”
Osafile, who is expected to formally announce her defection on the House floor during an upcoming plenary session, originally won her seat in 2023 by defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Segun Folorunso, by a significant margin.
While the Election Petition Tribunal initially overturned her victory in favor of the APC, she took the case to the Court of Appeal and “successfully reclaimed her seat,” putting an end to the legal dispute.
