A report by PRNigeria has concluded that the viral video showing Senator Adams Oshiomhole massaging a woman’s feet on a private jet is authentic, dismissing claims from the Senator’s media office that it was a deepfake.
The controversy began when a 30-second clip surfaced on platforms like X and TikTok, showing the former Edo State Governor in a lighthearted interaction with a woman, later identified as South African influencer Leshaan Dagama.
Oshiomhole’s team quickly labeled the footage a “poorly crafted and edited fake AI video” and urged the public to “jettison this false narrative that is in circulation to blackmail the people’s comrade.”
Technical Analysis & Findings
PRNigeria’s fact-check team conducted a multi-step forensic analysis to verify the Senator’s claim of artificial fabrication.
-
Visual Review: Analysts found no evidence of typical AI deepfake errors, such as inconsistent blinking, blurred skin textures, or unnatural limb movements. The shadows and lighting were found to be “consistent with real-world physics.”
-
Metadata Analysis: Technical data extracted from the video—including ISO, shutter speed, and frame rate—was consistent with footage captured by a physical camera rather than digital synthesis.
-
Forensic Tools: Scans using InVid and Google’s SynthID system detected no Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) artifacts or embedded AI watermarks.
-
Direct Response: Leshaan Dagama, the woman in the video, publicly mocked the AI claim on her Instagram story, stating: “Video wasn’t AI but okay believe your Senator.” She previously told outraged Nigerians, “Your senator is the problem, go be mad at him, not me.”
The Verdict
PRNigeria concluded that the claim the video was AI-generated is MISLEADING.
The footage lacks the technical markers of a deepfake and has been corroborated by the individual featured in the clip.
